Job Overview
Uchumi Commercial Bank (UCB) is seeking a qualified and experienced Human Resource Manager to lead the bank's human resources function. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures that support the bank's business objectives while ensuring compliance with employment laws and promoting a high-performance work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Human Resource Management
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the bank's overall goals.
- Review and improve organizational structures, HR policies, and human resource systems.
- Support the achievement of business objectives through effective workforce planning.
Recruitment and Employee Onboarding
- Coordinate the full recruitment and selection process.
- Advise department managers on staffing and recruitment matters.
- Oversee employee onboarding, probation assessments, transfers, and promotions.
Performance Management and Staff Development
- Ensure employees have clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Work closely with department heads to identify training and development needs.
- Promote a performance-driven culture and support performance improvement initiatives.
Employee Relations and Staff Welfare
- Manage staff welfare programs, including medical insurance and employee loan schemes.
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and industrial relations professionally.
- Foster a positive working environment that encourages employee engagement and retention.
Compliance and HR Reporting
- Prepare and submit all required statutory reports, including PAYE, SDL, HESLB, WCF, and pension contributions.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
- Produce regular HR reports covering recruitment, staff turnover, employee movements, and disciplinary cases.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline.
Experience
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in Human Resource Management.
- A minimum of three (3) years in a senior HR leadership position.
- Previous experience in the banking sector or a reputable private organization will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and people management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Tanzanian labour laws, industrial relations, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience in implementing performance management systems and managing HR information systems.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
