Job Overview

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to join its team at the Mtwara Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems to ensure reliable plant performance, maximum equipment availability, and compliance with safety standards.

The role also involves preventive maintenance planning, spare parts management, technical reporting, and supporting continuous plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign daily maintenance tasks and provide technical support to maintenance technicians.
• Ensure strict compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards within the assigned work area.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment, including:
  • Circuit breakers
  • Power transformers
  • MCC, PCC, MV, and LV switchboards
  • High- and low-voltage motors
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Battery charging systems
  • Plant lighting and earthing systems
  • HT/LT cables and cable terminations
• Complete maintenance work orders efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records, power reports, equipment history, inspection checklists, and daily activity reports.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance personnel.
• Record maintenance activities and update equipment information in the SAP system.
• Coordinate with the stores department to issue required materials and notify supervisors about spare parts requirements.
• Create purchase requisitions (PRs), maintenance notifications, and work orders through SAP.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Senior Engineer, Head of Section, or Head of Department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least four (4) years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should have practical knowledge of:

• Low-, Medium-, and High-Voltage electrical systems.
• MCC, PCC, MV, and LV switchgear.
• Transformers, substations, and power distribution equipment.
• HT/LT motors, generators, electrical cables, and cable terminations.
• Plant lighting and earthing systems.
• Electrical testing and measuring instruments.
• Electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• SAP maintenance systems and basic computer applications.

Required Competencies

• Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and electrical diagrams.
• Sound understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Good incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and coordination abilities.
